CalFresh, formerly called FoodStamps, it's a program that helps low-income individuals/household purchase nutritious food atauthorized grocery stores and other retailers. Alcoholic beverages, cigarettes,pet food, vitamins, medicines, paper products, and other non-food products cannotbe purchased.
CalFresh benefits areissued on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card which looks like a creditcard. The amount of monthly benefits depends on household size, income, monthlyexpenses, and other items.
Proof of Citizenshipand/or Residency is required. All U.S. citizens or Legal Permanent Residentchildren may qualify to receive CalFresh benefits, regardless of where theirparents were born.
