Baldwin County Dept Human Resources (DHR) Details

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Alabama is administered by the Food Assistance Division. Its purpose is to provide monthly benefits to low-income families/households so that they can purchase nutritious food at authorized grocery stores, farmers' markets and other retailers.

Individuals must apply for the SNAP program. An application must be filled out and all supporting documentation must be provided. When approved, SNAP benefits are issued monthly and put on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which looks just like a credit card. The benefit amount depends on number of individuals in household, income, expenses, and other factors pertinent to program guidelines.

Basic Requirements for Eligibility:

  • Provide names for all individuals living in household
  • Provide proof of residence
  • Provide social security numbers
  • Provide proof of Citizenship and/or Alien Status
  • Provide proof of income, and expenses
  • Provide additional information as required

Special Note:

The Alabama Elderly Simplified Application Project (AESAP) is an application process for households where all the members are 60 years of age or older and have no earned income.

Have called and emailed many many times to speak to someone with no response. Unable to leave a message because every worker who i get forwarded to has a full voicemail. The letter I received specifically says to call with any questions or concerns. What am I supposed to do?

I have called repeatedly for two days and nobody answers the phone and the mailboxes are full. I received a letter on the 17th stating I must return information by the 16th. How is that possible? And how am I supposed to find out if nobody will answer the phone? This is absolutely ridiculous. I'm going to lose my stamps because people won't simply answer the phone.

What is the email to send information for application process?

  4. 2021-10-26 18:46:05

It was time for my reevaluation. I never received my paperwork because they never changed my new mailing address. I have been calling leaving messages for 3 weeks now, I've lost my food stamps, now I have to reapply just because you have to leave a message and no one ever returns your phone call.

I have been trying to call the past month and have yet to get a hold of anyone. I am trying to cancel my account but no one will answer. Very frustrating

I have been trying to get in contact with someone from this office because I put a request in for a lost/stolen card and still haven’t received yet. I haven’t brought groceries in near a month waiting on the card to come.

  7. 2022-02-04 10:19:21

Can I get an email address to send my documents.

  8. 2022-02-06 14:16:46

I was approved for food stamps. I have called the 1-800 customer service line so many times on to where my card is. It is now going on the third month and I haven’t received my card. I have called the local office and they say they can’t do anything to call the 1-800 customer service line and they give me no answer to where my card is. All they keep saying is there’s a delay in the mail. I really don’t understand what is going on as to why I’m not getting my card. Where or who can give me answers?

This place is a joke they don't care about your well being what so ever. I've called multiple times different departments no answer or they just hang up; they loose paperwork regularly then cut you off then u wait months before you get them on the phone. Very bad company should be reviewed and shut down restaffed.
