    The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs a federally funded program that provides nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals, and families.
    The intent of the SNAP program is to help improve the health and well-being of low-income families and individuals by providing them with a means to meet their nutritional needs.
    They are not intended to meet all the food needs of a household or an individual.
    The use of other means such as food pantries and MIC in addition to SNAP will help to increase household food budgets.

    Benefits are issued through the state's Electronic Benefits Transfer system, which allows people to use their Oregon Perseverance Card at point-of-sale machines at grocery stores to access benefits.
