Oregon DHS - Child Welfare/Child Protective Services Details

SNAP is the largest programme in the national hunger safety network.

The aim of the SNAP programme is to contribute to the improvement of the health and well-being of low-income households and individuals by providing them with an opportunity to satisfy their nutritional needs.
They are not intended to meet all the nutritional needs of a family or individual.
The use of other resources such as food pantries and WIC, in addition to SNAP, will help to stretch household food budgets.

People don't have to be without a livelihood to be eligible for SNAP benefits.
People can be employed or have other forms of income and still be entitled to benefits.

Determination of suitability and issuance of benefits are provided through DHS and AAA offices throughout the state.
