The federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, mostly known as SNAP, assists low-income individuals and/or households in purchasing nutritious food. You need to apply for SNAP benefits. When approved, the benefit amount will depend on household size, income, monthly expenses, and other criteria relevant to program guidelines. Alcoholic beverages, tobacco, paper products, pet food, vitamins, medicines, and other non-food items cannot be purchased.

The SNAP benefit amount will be placed in an EBT card, which works just like a debit card, and are accepted at authorized grocery stores and other retailers.
