If you need an application mailed to your address please email LAHelpU.dcfs@la.gov or call 1-888-LAHELP-U (1-888-524-3578). Please NOTE that applications CANNOT be emailed.

After the application is filed, a case worker might contact the individual applying for SNAP benefits if additional information is required. Please note that a decision cannot be made until all the required information is provided. Once it is determined that the applicant is eligible for SNAP benefits, an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, referred to as the Louisiana Purchase Card will be sent via mail to the address provided in the application. It will also include instructions on how to activate the card and choose a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

The amount of benefit provided is based on income, resources and the number of individuals in the household. SNAP benefits are issued monthly on the Louisiana Purchase Card. This card can be used just like a debit card at authorized grocery stores and food retailers.

I used to get snap benefits but when I started getting ssi they reduced them to 16$ then to 0$ my child support stopped when my daughter finished high school . I’ve tried several time on the laCafe site to reapply as my income is $783 a month now but it will not allow me to apply on the site . I still have my ebt card, I can never get any one to help me on the phone.

I finally got approved. I was told a card was sent via mail the 24th. Of last month. Here is it the 11! And I have not got a card yet.... my benefits are on my account but no card. Can i pls just go to the office and pick one up. I've continually emailed the help line. I was told it would be here within days because my benefits themselves were expedited.

I had a simplified reporting due for SNAP. I’ve gone online at the web site listed on my letter from dcfs. When I tried to login to my account it kept saying my user I.D. was not recognized. I tried to create a new account but had the same problem .., user I.D. not recognized. I’ve tried calling also but the wait time was 79, 75 minutes long to speak to a representative.
