Lanai Department of Human Services Details

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP, is part of a federal nutrition program that helps qualifying low-income households purchase nutritious food.

Individuals must apply for the program and provide all the required documentation. Individuals can apply online, via US Mail and through the drop-off boxes located at the office. After the application is filed, the individual must have a telephone interview with a case worker and be prepared to answer questions related to the household situation.

The amount of benefit provided is based on income, resources and the number of individuals in the household. SNAP benefits are issued monthly on the Hawaii Electronic Benefit Transfer (Hi/EBT) card. This EBT card can be used just like a debit card at authorized grocery stores and food retailers.

Mission Statement To encourage self-sufficiency and support the well-being of individuals, families, and communities in Hawaii.

Aloha, I have been trying to connect with your office for 5 days now and no answer at any of your phone numbers. No answer on Lanai 565-7102 or 565-7105 I have left messages but no call back. I have also called your 553-1715 and no answer there, but left a message. I did receive a letter just today Friday Aug 21 stating that I needed to call for an interview but no answer. The SNAP program is very important to me.
