Hardin Field Office Details

The mission of the Department of Public Health and Human Services in Montana is to support the strengths of families and communities by promoting employment and providing the assistance they need to help families and individuals meet basic needs and develop their way out of poverty.
The department provides cash assistance, employment training, additional nutritional assistance (formerly food stamps), Medicaid, child care, meal reimbursement, nutritional training, energy assistance, weather resistance, and other services to help families lift themselves out of poverty and help them become self-sufficient.

The cash assistance is financed by a federal block grant called Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
The program offers monthly payments to low-income families and children who meet income eligibility and resource standards.
The Labor Preparation Component (WoRC) provides employment and training services to individuals receiving cash assistance.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly the Food Stamp Program) provides benefits for eligible families to supplement their food budget and increase their ability to buy healthy food.
SNAP Nutrition Education (SNAP Nutrition Education, SNAP-Ed) is offered in conjunction with the University of Montana, where participants learn how to make wise use of the benefits associated with food stamps.
