Individuals must apply for the SNAP program. Eligible individuals must pass income and assets tests. SNAP benefits are issued monthly via the Alaska Quest card, which looks just like a credit card. The benefit amount depends on number of individuals in household, income, expenses, and other factors pertinent to program guidelines.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Residency
  • Age and Relationship
  • Citizenship and Social Security Numbers
  • Work
  • Other factors

Special Note:

Alaska has special rules that allow for higher SNAP benefits in rural areas. Individuals may use the SNAP benefits to purchase certain hunting and fishing subsistence supplies. Contact the office for additional information.

I am calling the inspector general, I have made numerous attempts to call the Fairbank office just to sit on hold for several hours, and then have your machine hang up on me. Also I went to the office in Fairbanks, waited 3 hours to be told you have my real application and I have heard ZERO FROM YOU. I am now spending my electric bill money to eat.
