The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Alabama is administered by the Food Assistance Division. When approved, SNAP benefits are issued monthly and put on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which looks just like a credit card. The benefit amount depends on number of individuals in household, income, expenses, and other factors pertinent to program guidelines.

Basic Requirements for Eligibility:

  • Provide names for all individuals living in household
  • Provide proof of residence
  • Provide social security numbers
  • Provide proof of Citizenship and/or Alien Status
  • Provide proof of income, and expenses
